PolarFire™ FPGAs are the fifth-generation family of non-volatile FPGA devices from Microsemi, built onstate-of-the-art 28nm non-volatile process technology. Cost-optimized PolarFire FPGAs deliver thelowest power at mid-range densities. PolarFire FPGAs lower the cost of mid-range FPGAs by integratingthe industry’s lowest power FPGA fabric, lowest power 12.7 Gbps transceiver lane, built-in low powerdual PCI Express Gen2 (EP/RP), and, on select data security (S) devices, an integrated low-power crypto co-processor. PolarFire FPGAs can operate at 1.0 V and 1.05 V, offering the end user the ability to tradeoff power and performance to match the application requirements.

This document describes the features of the production PolarFire FPGA extended commercial(0℃ to100℃) and industrial (–40℃ to 100℃) device offerings. Please refer to the datasheet for current siliconstatus and electrical characteristics.

Microchip ’s PolarFire Video and Imaging Kit offers a high-performance evaluation of 4K image processing and rendering using dual camera sensors as well as numerous display interfaces. The kit is purpose-built for effortless prototyping of popular imaging and video protocols including MIPI CSI-2 TX, MIPI CSI-2 RX, HDMI 1.4 TX, HDMI2.0, DSI, and HD/3G SDI.

With a  300K logic element (LE) PolarFire FPGA with DDR4 and SPI-flash the kit is ideally suited for mid-bandwidth imaging and video applications. The PolarFire device on-board optimizes input/outputs (I/Os), transceiver rates, look-up table (LUT4) architecture, memories and DSPs for mid-density/mid-bandwidth ranges, to deliver a superior solution at a much lower power and lower total cost of ownership.

The kit is part of our broader Smart Embedded Vision solutions to open up new possibilities to implement systems that rely on visual data to make decisions across a broad spectrum of applications like Drones, Machine Vision, Thermal Imaging, Gaming, Video Surveillance, Robotics, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Machine Learning, and HMI.
